Collective Worship & Faith Life
Our Church & Diocesan Partnership
We work closely with the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education (SDBE), who provide valuable support and advisory services.
Our vicar visits regularly to lead collective worship, and our children visit the local church once or twice each term to deepen their connection with our faith community and church life.
Our Collective Worship & The Lectionary Year
Collective Worship takes place every day, bringing us together as a whole school, in Key Stage groups, or within individual classrooms. We provide a calm, conducive atmosphere for prayer, reflection, and celebration, while also using this time to share information and discuss important school issues.
Our worship follows the Church of England Lectionary Year, ensuring a rich and structured journey through scripture:
Termly Christian Values: Our school holds six core values that sit at the absolute heart of everything we do - kindness, peace, perseverance, faithfulness, love and joy.
Start of the Week: Our vicar leads a whole-school collective worship centred on the weekly Gospel reading, weaving in our termly value so that children can see how Biblical teachings apply to their everyday lives.
Throughout the Week: The core message from the Gospel and our termly value is unpacked and explored further during Key Stage collective worships.
Child-Led Worship: Throughout the year, our children lead special assemblies, which parents are warmly invited to attend.
Nurturing Spirituality: The Spacemakers Programme
In addition to daily collective worship, we use the Spacemakers programme for in-class sessions. Spacemakers offers simple, creative practices that give pupils time to pause, reflect, and nurture their own spirituality and mental wellbeing. These quiet moments help children develop self-awareness, inner peace, and a personal sense of reflection within the rhythm of the school day.
Partnering with Parents
We encourage and welcome parent involvement in their children's Religious Education and the prayer life of our school. Families are kept up to date through our weekly newsletter and are always invited to join us for our special celebrations in church.
Our last RE Inspection was in March 2019 when we were judged as an EXCELLENT school.
